Carlos Almonte, a classically trained pianist since age 7, has been working in and out of the NYC music scene for the past 10 years. Working with a variety of musicians and vocalists has given rise to his versatility in a wide range of styles.

 

On Montage, a collection of favored standards as well as original compositions, Almonte revisits upbeat standards with an ambitious sound. The essence of the melodies are borne out of his introspection. Almonte's translation of Mongo Santamaria's "Afro Blue" highlights his commanding technique.
